Summer Hedge Maintenance

hedge trimming

Pruning your hedges in summer means they’ll hold crisp and trim, not just for the rest of the growing season, but throughout winter.

The hedge should be wider at the ground than the top. If you cut it dead straight, the plant will have more sunlight at the top, therefore it will grow stronger and the bottom will become weaker, and what you end up with is bare stems at the end of the plant.

Don’t forget that hedge trimmings also make “brilliant” compost.
